We are delighted that Julie Brownsea was recognised at the Proud to Care Awards as Volunteer Care Worker of the Year for the contribution she makes to Tricuro’s Avon View Care Home in Christchurch.
The Echo’s awards ceremony celebrated the work and commitment of the ‘unsung heroes’ in the care industry, and the difference they make to so many lives on a daily basis.
Julie has, over the years, given so much care, love and support to her family members, residents and staff of Avon View Residential Home. Her mother and mother-in-law and were both residents of Avon View, and she visited daily to help with lunchtime meals. When her family members passed away, Julie continued her visits as she felt that a part of her belonged at Avon View. She helps out at Avon View and at events held at the home, and has started a knitting ‘crusade’: she has made countless hedgehogs, owls and snowmen which she sells to help fundraise for the benefit of the residents.
The photograph shows Julie with her award at the ceremony on 15 November. Many congratulations and well done, Julie!
