Community Support Team (CST)

The Community Support Team’s aim is to support, enable and empower people, predominantly those with a learning disability, to remain independent in their local communities.  This support is provided through Tricuro’s supported living accommodation or through housing related support and advice, enabling clients to maintain their own tenancies.

The service is provided in the Bournemouth area.  Eligibility is determined and referrals to the service are made by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.

Services Provided

Supported Living Accommodation

We have 5 supported living sites in Southbourne, Kinson, Winton and Charminster.  They offer either multi-occupancy accommodation, with each person having their own room with shared communal areas, or single occupancy flats or bungalows on purpose-built sites.  Each client holds a tenancy to their own room, flat or bungalow.   All are close to local shopping areas and all except one multi-occupancy property are owned by Sovereign Housing Association: the one other property is owned by Aster Housing Association.

At all these sites, we have trained and experienced members of staff who provide housing related support to help clients to live independent lives and to maintain their tenancies.   This includes support to write budget plans; set up direct debits; open bank accounts, read correspondence and some form filling.  Staff also offer support and advice on how to stay healthy, supporting clients to essential health care appointments and giving help to access other services as required.

Other housing related support provided by the team includes development of daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and home maintenance; advice on healthy eating and shopping lists; how to stay safe at home and when out and about and help to access local amenities such as libraries and shops, with the provision of independent travel training (for example bus travel).

Although we try to meet all the needs of our clients, there are several areas we are unable to provide support in, which include managing medication, personal care, welfare checks and shopping on their behalf.

Community Support Outreach Team

The Outreach Team support people with learning disabilities who live in the community to live as independently as possible and to maintain their own tenancies.

Our staff in the outreach team provide similar support to that provided to clients living in our supported living accommodation, as outlined above.

Clients receive support visits or telephone calls each week to suit their individual needs.

The team can help clients to find appropriate housing if necessary and signpost them to other services if required.
