Medication Foundation (£70)*

This is a whole day course and the content is accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Upon completion, learner will be able to:

• List common medicine types and uses.

• Describe protocols for “homely” & “when required” (PRN) medicines.
• Explain the “6 Rights” of administration.
• Know best practices with common types of medicines.
• Keep & maintain accurate records.
• Explain different administration routes.
• Recognise some side-effects and your role.

Moving and Assisting People- New to care (£60)*

This is a whole day course.

Upon completion, learner will be able to:

• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant legislation relevant to role.
• Identify their vulnerability to injury when undertaking Manual Handling tasks.
• Explain the workings of the spine and how to reduce the risks of spinal injury.
• Demonstrate the principles of biomechanics and knowledge of ergonomics.
• Demonstrate the process of risk assessment and identify ‘controversial techniques’.
• Demonstrate up-to-date practical skills in moving and handling.
• Work to current Moving and Handling guidelines.
• Identify and alleviate any poor techniques that have been adopted.
• Demonstrate safe practice using a range of techniques and equipment.

Safeguarding (£35)*

This is a half day course. Upon completion, learner will be able to:

• Understand different types of abuse and the recognition features of each one.
• Understand safeguarding policy and procedures.
• How to deal with disclosure of abuse and the process to follow
• How to report and record safeguarding concerns
• Know the support available following disclosure

Moving and Handling of Loads (£25)*

This is a half day course. Upon completion, learner will be able to:

• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant legislation relevant to role.

• Classifications of medications.
• The legislation that underpins medication administration.
• Good medication administering.
• Storing and disposal.
• Record keeping and information sharing.
• Role and responsibility as described by the CQC and the NICE guidelines.
