Tricuro’s Green Shed, based at Castle Gardens in Sherborne, will hold a birthday party to mark its ninth anniversary on Monday 19 August from 1pm – 4pm. This celebration will be held in The Butterfly House at Castle Gardens, just a few feet away from The Green Shed itself, which first opened its doors in 2010.
A chance for all involved to reflect on nine years of community support, the event will also offer an opportunity to look ahead to the future of this valuable resource, which provides hands-on, practical work for adults with learning disabilities and memory problems, including dementia.
Barry Watts, co-ordinator of The Green Shed, explains: “We’re very proud to be marking our ninth birthday this year and as part of the celebration we would like to thank Mike and Louise Burks at Castle Gardens, who continue to provide consistent, timely and friendly support for The Green Shed. Over the years, we have been lucky enough to receive support and kind donations from so many local organisations, such as Silton Art Group, Thornford Cricket Group, Cheap Street Church and Faith in Action Committee: this has been invaluable, helping us to grow, flourish and reach this milestone.”
Refreshments, including coffee and cake, will be provided, Barry will also be on hand to explain how members of the local community with learning disabilities or memory problems can join The Green Shed and take part in crafts, recycling initiatives and other hands-on activities. Please phone Barry on 07766775619 by end of business on Friday if you would like to attend.
