Poole Plus is located close to Poole town centre, Poole Park and the Civic Centre and it has many local community links with a variety of organisations, including schools and colleges. The centre has level access throughout.
Facilities, activities and services offered
Poole Plus supports clients with medium to high level dementia in a safe and secure environment.
Support is provided according to each individual’s emotional, personal care and mobility needs. The service provides a range of stimulating activities including reminiscence; memory boxes; art and craft; music activities; singing; dancing; quizzes; cookery; table top games (dominoes; shove ha’penny; jigsaws); indoor gardening (fruit; vegetables; flowers) and poetry.
Clients are supported to attend local community events, such as the Stroke Association walk in Poole Park.
Foot health care can be booked on a 6-weekly basis and a visiting hairdresser is available on site on Mondays and Thursdays (Charges apply for these services).
The service has a large, welcoming reception area; a dining room; large and smaller lounge areas throughout the building and a large art and craft area. There are specialist changing and hoist facilities in the two bathrooms, with Parker baths. Bathing services are offered for an agreed charge. The bathrooms can be hired privately.
Support to carers
The service has a carers support group, which meets every six weeks. Staff give support, advice and signposting information to carers and parents, and the service offers daily respite attendance to support them, including at weekends.
Poole Plus is open seven days a week, from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday; 9.30 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays and 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on Sundays. It is closed on bank holidays.
