Facilities, activities and services offered
The service provides a safe, vibrant and caring environment for people with dementia and those who may be isolated or lonely or because their physical health prevents them from accessing the wider community.
A person-centred approach is taken and a choice of activities is offered to cater for individual needs. These are building based and include art groups; craft groups; a variety of music and dancing groups; quizzes; crosswords; table games such as scrabble and physical games such as indoor bowling. The service regularly adds activities suggested by clients.
Manicures; footcare and baths and showers are offered for an agreed charge. (Care agency support must be provided for baths and showers). A hairdresser attends at the centre on 2 days a week at an agreed cost. Details are available on request.
The service has strong community connections. It has links with the nursery and primary school nearby and children attend regularly to sing, play music and share some time with the clients.
A lunch club is available to clients and it is offered to the wider community on a Thursday, with some flexibility on other days of the week.
Support to carers
A carers’ café is offered on the second week of every month. It is held as a drop-in session where a care officer is available to give support, advice and signposting information. Sessions with the care officer can also be pre-booked. The service offers daily respite attendance to support carers.
Highcliffe Plus is open from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday. It is closed at weekends and bank holidays.
The centre’s facilities are available to hire. Bathrooms are available for hire if care agency support is provided. Charges and further information are available on request.
