Christchurch Connect is located near the Jumpers and Fairmile neighbourhoods in Christchurch, with bus routes to Christchurch, Poole and Bournemouth a short walk away.
It is a large, bright and modern building with both multi-purpose and activity specific rooms. There are two garden areas for sitting or getting involved in gardening. There is also access to a community allotment five minutes’ walk away.
Facilities, activities and services offered
There are a variety of activities which empower people to maintain and build on their wellbeing, including dancing; singing; arts and crafts; prop design; drama; bakery; storytelling; gardening; ‘shabby chic’; cricket; jewellery making and rambling. ‘Cook and eat’ lunch clubs are held regularly. Travel training is provided to support clients to travel independently where possible. There are regular pamper sessions where aromatherapy and massage sessions are offered.
Evening social events are held, including monthly discos, and there is a men’s group.
There are several large bathrooms and an accessible bath. Prices for bathing services with specialist support are available on request.
Support to carers
Regular carers’ drop-In sessions are held, together with coffee mornings or afternoons. Informal signposting and advice is provided. The service offers daily respite attendance to support carers.
Christchurch Connect is open from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday. It is closed at weekends and bank holidays.
Kitchens; meetings rooms; the multi-sensory room and office space is available for hire during the day and the whole building is available at weekends, at competitive rates. Charges and further information are available on request.
