Avon View Care and Nursing Home is located on the outskirts of Christchurch, near the Jumpers and Fairmile neighbourhoods. There are good transport links, with a main line train station nearby.
Avon View offers accommodation to 81 clients. It is located over three floors and the first and second floors are accessed by two lifts.
Each of the three floors provides a designated service. The ground floor offers residential care for clients living with dementia. It has dementia friendly equipment and has access to a secure garden. The first floor provides residential care for frail older people. The second floor provides nursing and palliative care and has specialist equipment to facilitate this.
All bedrooms are single occupancy with en-suite facilities. Each floor provides two communal lounges and dining rooms with kitchenettes. Specialist bathing and toilet facilities are located on all floors. There is a guest room for visitors who need to stay overnight.
The gardens are easily accessible and provide a range of seating areas, with a large pond and fish. Avon View also keeps a few chickens and ducks in a designated area of one of the gardens, and has a pet cat.
Car parking for visitors is available.
Avon View’s 25 bed nursing unit provides nursing care for people with specialist requirements. Our nursing team consists of qualified nurses and health care assistants who are trained and have the specialist expertise required to care for residents with varying medical needs and requirements.
We provide care to people who may be living with conditions such as motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or acquired brain injury. We specialise in end of life care and our staff also work closely with the local MacMillan Team, who provide additional specialist training if identified.
Most of our nursing home residents are eligible for continuing health care (CHC) funding.
NHS England provides some helpful information about CHC and this can be found on their website: https://www.england.nhs.uk/healthcare/
