On 1 November, The Connect Café opened its doors to everyone in the local community. Last year, during a series of co-production meetings at Blandford Connect (known locally as Blandford Community Centre), people expressed how important it was to utilise this fantastic space and open it up to the wider community. Less than a year later the hatch was raised and the doors were opened. With the help of friends of the Centre, Cllr Byron Quale and Cllr Nocturin Lacey-Clarke, the ribbon was cut and the Café began serving its delicious home-made food.
The Connect Café is open Monday to Friday, from 10:00 till 15:00 serving a variety of hot drinks and freshly baked cakes, snacks and sandwiches, as well as offering home-cooked traditional lunches served from 12:30. It also offers packed tea or hot meals to take home as well as personal and business buffet catering. Above all, the Connect Café aims to offer a safe and comfortable space for anyone to use, to meet with friends, to find someone to talk to or simply to sit with a book and a hot drink.
On 5 December the Café is holding a Community Christmas Lunch. All are welcome: to book your place telephone 01258 480762 or visit us on Facebook: Tricuro Blandford Community Centre.
Blandford Community Centre is located on Heddington Drive, just a short walk up from the town, in a residential area of Blandford, only minutes from the newly opened LIDL. It offers support to people irrespective of their age or disability through planned and personalised day services as well as many community activities that are open to everyone! With the new addition of the Connect Café, it will offer a space and time for anyone in Blandford and the surrounding areas.
